The Ideal Machine for Any Job — Large or Small !
The TurfMaker ® 800 hydroseeder is large enough to provide thick wood mulch applications on small home lawn sites, or thin “hydro-seeding” applications on as much as 25,000 square feet. Either tank load can be loaded, mixed, and applied in less than thirty minutes. In addition, up to as many as 20 tank loads can be applied in a normal workday, assuming water for re-filling is readily available. Availability of water is never a problem with a TurfMaker ® 800. The best productivity is usually accomplished utilizing a fire hydrant for loading. However, when a fire hydrant is not available, the machine can fill itself from an auxiliary water tank using the exclusive TurfMaker ® self-filling system.
The TurfMaker ® 800 hydroseeder, with its powerful, direct-drive mechanical agitation system can quickly mix up to 325 pounds of 100% Wood Fiber Mulch or up to 500 pounds of shredded paper in one tank load. With the positive displacement pump, thick mulch slurries can be pumped through up to 500 feet of hose, and then spray more than 75 feet from the end of the hose. For the best and highest quality applications, tackifiers are always recommended. Slicky Sticky ® is a leading erosion control tackifier product that also makes the slurry extremely slick, reducing or eliminating clogs completely. Slicky Sticky ® also increases moisture retention and enhances seed germination.
The TurfMaker ® 800 hydroseeder can be mounted on a heavy duty flat bed truck, on a heavy-duty utility trailer, or can be purchased on the custom heavy duty two axle trailer shown above. The TurfMaker ® 800 hydroseeder is large enough to cover a lot of area with one tank load, and small enough to be taken into places larger machines can’t go. It provides fast and efficient performance with wood mulch for the quality-minded landscaping contractor.

** Blended mulches can be loaded more or less depending upon brand and density.
You can load 6 bags of Flexterra® in a TurfMaker® 800 and go to work. You can load 5 bags in a Finn T75.
With 6 bags instead of 5, it takes only 5 tank loads to apply the same amount of mulch as 6 tanks with 5 bags.
Add to that fact that the TurfMaker® can most certainly be loaded and ready to shoot in 2 or 3 minutes less time each tank load.
Verify this information!
Ask a TurfMaker® 800 owner how much Flexterra® he loads per tank load. You will most likely get the answer, “8 bags”
Make the call yourself. And then ask how long it takes to load and mix the tank.
Ask a Finn T75 owner how much Flexterra® he loads per tank load. You may get the answer, “5 bags per tank load”. Make the call. Get the answers for yourself. Also ask how long it takes to load and mix the tank.
The answers to these questions are very important. Time is money – Make the calls! Then step up to TurfMaker®.
The TurfMaker® Pump – More Mulch and No Clogs:
The precision 2” steel gear pump manufactured by TurfMaker® handles thick slurries much better than traditional centrifugal pumps. Entrapped air or pump cavitations just don’t occur with a TurfMaker® pump. The pump just chugs along at a very slow RPM and delivers thick mulch slurries with extreme power and without clogging.
A TurfMaker® with hydraulics can also run the pump backwards. It is so easy to remove any kind of stoppage by simply hitting reverse for a moment. NO CLOGGING IS REALLY NICE.
The Finn T75 has a centrifugal pump engaged with an electric clutch (not hydraulics). This pump will not run backwards to clear a clog. It is not uncommon for Finn operators to partially disassemble a Finn machine at a job site to undo a clog. A Clog is a miserable time killer!
The TurfMaker® Pump – Incredible Hose Pumping Power:
TurfMaker® machines are known for pumping thick mulch slurries through long hoses. Pumping a 6 bag mix of Flexterra® through 300 or even 400 feet is powerful pumping.
The Agitator:
Both the Finn and the TurfMaker® hydraulic machines have reversible agitation. Reversible agitation is useful if a large piece of mulch jams the agitator. This most often occurs with a weak hydraulic system. A second issue is that if too much water is put into the tank before all the mulch is loaded, mulch will float on top of the water. Reversing the agitator can pull the floating mulch into the solution and get it mixed.
Cleaning up at the End of the Day:
TurfMakers® do not have cross members or other mulch catching points inside the tank. Look inside the tank of any other machine. Then consider the time and nuisance of cleaning that tank at the end of every work day.
